Personality guide
Personality in Living the Dream is pure math on four sliders. Movement + Speech and Energy + Thinking each sum to 0–14. Those two axes pick one of sixteen types across four groups.
The formula
Each slider is 0–7 (eight ticks). Sum Speech+Movement for the horizontal axis and Thinking+Energy for the vertical axis. The Overall slider only changes presentation — it does not change type. Use our calculator to preview before you confirm a Mii.
Four groups
Considerate (warm yellows), Outgoing (pinks/reds), Reserved (teals/greens), and Ambitious (blues/purples) tint starting clothes, house exteriors, and profile cards. Group-wide walk quirks from the 3DS era are dialed back — Little Quirks now carry most of the unique body language.
Name changes from 3DS
Easygoing → Considerate, Independent → Reserved, Confident → Ambitious. Outgoing Leader became Outgoing Dynamo in NA. EU localizations still use alternate labels like Softie, Optimist, and Hot-Blooded — we list aliases on each type.
Editing later
Open a resident's personality screen to retune sliders anytime. This is the cleanest fix when two Miis refuse to click or you want a themed friend group.
- Plan friend circles by mixing groups — pure mono-personality islands can feel repetitive.
- Gift quirks after fountain ranks 10+ to differentiate Miis that share a type.
